Tasting Notes

An exquisite, chiselled wine offering all the best of what Margaret River can do with this variety and, of course, this producer. Savoury, moreish sulphides, spicy ginger flower and lemon blossom, tangy juicy with subtle oak spices and refined leesy nuances. it’s a classy wine that has an innate power yet feels effortless.

97 Points, Jane Faulkner Halliday Wine Companion

This is a superb chardonnay, and, despite some excellent previous vintages, I reckon this is as good as any that’s been released. It’s fine and delicate, but it carries tremendous, precise intensity, with beautifully integrated oak and fruit. There’s a light honeycomb and stone fruit character, with a touch of grapefruit, and yet nothing dominates. It simply knits together where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Very long finish—an exceptional wine.

97 Points, Ray Jordan

Crushed rocks, white button mushroom, green tea and white nectarine aromas take you on a gourmand ride from the get-go. The palate reverberates with energy and a crescendo of flavour takes hold. Pithy saline phenolics on the finish add chew and interest. This is a finely styled chardonnay, up there with the best Australia has to offer.

96 Points, Gabrielle Poy, The Real Review

White nectarine, aniseed, nougat, the tea you get at yum cha with that jasmine perfume, also a saline umami thing. It has some juice and gently tropical flavours, not quite lychee, but heading that way, a salted lemon character, a light smokiness in the mix, a powdery texture, with a mango juicy nip to acidity, and a finish of excellent length. Very good!
