Mount Mary, founded by Dr John Middleton in 1971, is one of the Yarra Valley's most revered estates, farming a single vineyard on red volcanic and clay-loam soils near Lilydale. Reflexion is the more accessible expression of its estate Pinot Noir, made entirely from the Mount Mary vineyard whose fruit also underpins the far pricier flagship. The 2024 Yarra Valley vintage was cooler and well-balanced after a mild summer, favouring fragrance and freshness in Pinot Noir. The vineyard is tended by hand with a sustainable, low-intervention philosophy focused on elegance and site expression.

Conceived in a more approachable spirit than the flagship, the 2024 Reflexion is made from 100% Mount Mary vineyard Pinot Noir and vinified in the estate's restrained house style, with gentle extraction to preserve perfume and fine tannin. It is matured in French oak barriques, only a portion new, before bottling. The result is a lighter-framed, early-appealing Pinot showing red cherry, raspberry and spice with the estate's characteristic elegance. Barrel-ageing length, new-oak proportion and whole-bunch use for the 2024 release are not published (NEEDS VERIFICATION).
