Tasting Notes

Description

Generous lemon and lime juice with a lavender perfume characterise this wine, made in the classic Australian style with just a touch of residual sweetness to balance the crisp natural acidity. It is a pristine wine with generous length of fruit flavour, a great example of the atypical but nevertheless outstanding vintage in the Clare Valley.

Winemaking Notes

Riesling grapes were harvested at their peak flavour maturity from vineyards through the central and northern Clare Valley. After destemming and must chilling, the juice was separated from skins, clarified and fermented for 14 days at relatively low temperatures. The use of ‘free-run’ juice only ensures continuation of the true Mr Mick style: crisp, pure and fruit driven.

Food Pairing

A wine best enjoyed now, on its own or with fresh seafood.

About this Wine

Clare Valley

Situated in the Mid North of South Australia, approximately 120 km north of Adelaide is one of Australia's oldest wine regions the Clare Valley. The area is broken up into three sub-regions, the Polish Hill River region to the east, the Central Clare Valley, and the Skillogalee Valley to the west.

Often associated with some of Australia's finest Riesling the cool climate and differing terroirs have paved the way for exciting and diverse wines over a plethora of varietals resulting in wines of pure expression and great length. Home to some of Australia's most iconic wineries - cult producers like Wendouree, to Australian icons such as Kilikanoon and boutique producers like Atlas, the Clare Valley is definitely an area to keep an eye on for exciting and ever evolving wines
