Tasting Notes

Description

The Vermentino was introduced in the Mr. Mick portfolio in 2014 and has since then proven to be one of the most exciting wines year after year. The winemaking approach to the wine keeps in mind the philosophy and tradition of the Mr. Mick range of ‘ wines for everyone to enjoy’ while respecting the variety’s singularities and characteristics. Being a popular Italian variety with its origin on the island of Sardinia, but also spread along the southern coast of France, the Vermentino is suited for a broad array of cuisines. The wine has lifted grapefruit, apple, pear and almond blossom aromas and flavours, modelled in the classic Italian style with just a touch of fruit sweetness to balance the refreshing crushed rock minerality and spritely natural acidity.

Winemaking Notes

Harvested on the 5th April in the cool of the early morning, the grapes were crushed and pressed to separate the juice of the skins, followed by a gentle and steady fermentation for two weeks. The result is a rich, textural yet seamless palate with vibrant natural acidity and purity of fruit.

Food Pairing

It is a great wine just to sit, sip and enjoy for its individuality, or try with a varied range of food, particularly good with seafood and pasta dishes!

About this Wine

Clare Valley

Situated in the Mid North of South Australia, approximately 120 km north of Adelaide is one of Australia's oldest wine regions the Clare Valley. The area is broken up into three sub-regions, the Polish Hill River region to the east, the Central Clare Valley, and the Skillogalee Valley to the west.

Often associated with some of Australia's finest Riesling the cool climate and differing terroirs have paved the way for exciting and diverse wines over a plethora of varietals resulting in wines of pure expression and great length. Home to some of Australia's most iconic wineries - cult producers like Wendouree, to Australian icons such as Kilikanoon and boutique producers like Atlas, the Clare Valley is definitely an area to keep an eye on for exciting and ever evolving wines
