Tasting Notes

Aromatic citrus blossoms and ripe stone fruits are complemented by subtle toasted oak on the nose. The palate blends crisp green apple and white peach with velvety creaminess, hazelnuts, and a touch of oak. Lively acidity and minerality lead to a long, citrus-driven finish.

In 2010, at sunrise, Callie and her dad and stood overlooking Machu Picchu, an Incan citadel set high in the Andes Mountains of Peru.

While their guide shared stories about PachaMama - an ancient Inca fertility goddess who presides over planting and harvesting (you may know her as Mother Nature) - the fog lifted, slowly exposing the transcendent ruins hiding below.

They were told about the ongoing Andean tradition of giving a toast in honour of PachaMama and in some regions, a special kind of libation (known as a challa) is performed where a small amount of wine is spilled onto the ground to express deep gratitude to their earth mother and to give back to the earth.

This trip inspired the beginnings of PachaMama. 12 years later and although the reins have been passed down from father to daughter, PachaMama still stands by the same core values they wrote down when they started: empowerment, sustainability, innovation and community.

Critic Scores

Bright and expressive, opening with white peach, nectarine and grapefruit layered with
subtle cashew, flint and finely integrated oak.
The palate is medium-bodied and beautifully textured, delivering vibrant stone fruit and citrus
before a creamy mineral line develops through the mid-palate. Fine acidity provides
precision and energy, while subtle oak influence adds polish without overwhelming the fruit.
The finish is long, clean and beautifully composed with lingering citrus and savoury detail.
A refined and beautifully balanced Chardonnay showing freshness, texture and modern
Yarra Valley precision.

Vino Masters Score: 95 / 100
★★★★★ Precise, layered and beautifully refined

From the Rising vineyard in St. Andrews. Partial mlf and 10% new oak. Brightly coloured, with a subtle bouquet of nectarine, peel and light marine scents. This builds gradually on the palate before finishing with good tension and subtle spice. I can see this continuing to build and become more complex over the next six to 12 months.

Elegant and poised, the wine reveals white-fleshed peach, lemon peel, crunchy apple, and nougat characters on the nose, followed by a focused palate that's linear and persistent. Splendidly structured by refined texture and bright acidity, finishing lingering and stylish.
