Tasting Notes

Vineyards located in Verduno, land with a high vocation growing Nebbiolo grapes for Barolo. Exposure: South-West with an altitude of approx. 300 meters above the sea, particularly soft calcareous clay and marls. Bright ruby red, with cardinal red reflections. Intense perfumes of mature fruits, blackberries and prunes and a very elegant and complex Barolo, gentle tannins with a fresh long finish. Wine with a very good ageing potential, it develops slowly and constantly in the bottle. This great wine finds its natural pairing with the dishes of the Piedmontese tradition, braised beef, wild boar.

Vinification & Cultivation

Crafted only for our premium wines

Vineyard Cultivation

This Barolo DOCG from Pietro Rinaldi represents the winery's commitment to expressing the finest characteristics of Piedmont's premier Nebbiolo terroir. The vineyard sits within the regulated Barolo zone, where limestone-clay soils and the region's distinctive climate—cool nights and warm days—create conditions ideal for Nebbiolo's slow, complete ripening. The 2022 vintage presented moderate warmth with adequate moisture, conditions that produced well-balanced fruit with good acidity and tannin development. Such vintages often yield Barolos of particular elegance, with refined aromatic expression and the potential for graceful evolution in bottle.

Vinification

Following DOCG regulations and Pietro Rinaldi's house protocol, grapes underwent fermentation in large wooden vats, an extended process permitting complete extraction of Nebbiolo's colour and structure. The resulting wine then entered large oak casks—the traditional medium for Barolo's maturation. Minimum legal ageing of thirty-eight months (fermentation plus wood) ensures proper development and integration. The 2022 vintage would typically spend approximately two years in oak, with the remainder of the mandatory period achieved in bottle prior to commercial release. Unfiltered bottling preserved aromatic and structural complexity.
