Critic Scores

Deep, opaque garnet with an almost black core. Powerful aromas of blackberry, black plum and ripe blueberry unfold, interwoven with dark chocolate, liquorice and sweet baking spices.

The palate is super-rich and intensely flavour-packed, with exceptional concentration. Plush dark fruits dominate, layered with mocha, cocoa, anise and savoury spice. Fine-grained, velvety tannins provide outstanding structure, while perfectly integrated French oak adds seamless texture. Fresh, natural savoury acidity carries the wine through an exceptionally long, pristine finish.

Vino Masters Score: 98/100 ★★★★★ A magnificent old-vine Barossa Shiraz of extraordinary concentration, elegance and world-class cellaring potential.

Sweet and appealing, the bouquet displays aromas of blackberry, dark plum, warm spices, and cedary oak. The palate is equally satisfying, showcasing excellent weight and richness, beautifully complemented by savoury nuances and well-integrated tannins. It's opulent, harmonious, and multi-layered, with a prolonged, delectable finish.

We are venturing into heavy bottle territory here – for all 2580 of the bottles of this wine produced. A black/ maroon hue, the nose exhibits notes of delicatessen meats, chocolate, mocha, coffee beans, plums and root vegetables. There is good oak integration, serious intensity, dusty yet fine tannins and great length. This immaculately balanced gem is delicious drinking now and has a wonderful future.

Deep dark, brooding colour with a powerful bouquet showing some early age development giving it a mix of cocoa-powder, mocha, very dark chocolate aromas, the palate full-bodied and plush with fleshy sweet fruit and masses of supple tannins, all nicely balanced on the finish which lasts and lasts.

South Australia

If you like Australian wine, then you probably like South Australia wine. The rich reds produced there put Australia on the wine-making map of the world. With over 40% of the countries vineyards, South Australia can rightfully call itself the wine state.

Wines are produced in several regions throughout the state, though many are naturally grouped together, like Barossa and Eden Valleys, only 15 minutes apart. They include such regions as Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Eden Valley, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Kangaroo Island, Langhorne Creek, The Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale and Wrattonbully to name but a few!

Barossa Valley boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia dating back to 1843 and produces some of the world's finest Shiraz, whilst the 'terra rossa' soils of Coonawarra is most suited to producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons. If you're a fan of Riesling, Clare Valley is a great place to explore and for a Maritime climate not dissimilar to parts of the Italian coastline, seek out the wines from McLaren Vale.
