This is just beautiful. It combines the elegance you get with Coonawarra with the inherent power and structure of Cabernet from this great region. A mix of tobacco leaf and blackcurrant with a little oyster shell minerality. Firm fine chalky tannins contribute to the controlled restraint of the palate which extends effortlessly to a very long finish. Destined for a lengthy stay in the cellar.

A standout expression of Coonawarra, and a reminder of just how compelling the region can be in a great year, when supported by the master winemaking genius Paul Gordon. The nose is bright and inviting, showing red plum and cassis with a distinct olive nuance, layered with subtle oak notes of coffee and mocha. Everything feels precise, assured and classically Coonawarra. On the palate, the wine is rich and full flavoured, yet beautifully balanced. Ripe black and red fruits sit confidently at the core, supported by fine, powdery tannins that provide persistence and length. Acidity is round and mouth-watering, lending elegance and grace rather than sharpness. This wine takes me straight back to the mid-1990s, when benchmark Coonawarra Cabernets such as Lindemans Pyrus, St George and Limestone Ridge first captured my attention. That same sense of place, structure and regional honesty is alive here. Coonawarra continues to offer exceptional quality and genuine value, and this is a shining example.

Richly fruited with gorgeous complexity, the bouquet shows cassis, tobacco, warm spice, rich floral, and cedar characters. The palate displays terrific weight and opulence, wonderfully complemented by fleshy texture and layers of chalky tannins, making it robust and flavoursome with a sustained, delectable finish.

2021 was a wonderful vintage for the Coonawarra region and this is an exciting addition to what has been on offer. An inky opaque purple, with a superb ‘Cabernet’ nose. Seamless in structure with a seductive texture and bright acidity, this is fresh, well balanced and offering excellent length. The nose exhibits notes of blackberries, chocolate, cloves, cedar, graphite, tobacco leaves and cocoa powder. Much to like here and this will drink beautifully for the next ten to fifteen years. An excellent example of a Coonawarra Cabernet at the top of its game.
