Tasting Notes

A bold and hedonistic expression of Barossa Shiraz, this wine delivers everything lovers of the region crave. Sourced from vineyards across both the Barossa and Eden Valleys, it layers plush red and blue fruits with rich dark chocolate, mocha and warming spice. Generous American oak brings waves of toasted coconut and Christmas cake richness, while the palate remains juicy, powerful and deeply satisfying. Full bodied, expressive and unmistakably Barossa, this is a Shiraz built for indulgence.

Critic Scores

Excellent colour with good depth and bright red plum vibrancy. The nose and palate show coconut and toasted barrel characters, leading into a big, rich and juicy palate. Masses of American oak are matched by generous spice and pronounced Christmas cake richness. Bold, expressive and unmistakably Barossa in style, delivering power, warmth and indulgence.

It’s splendidly fruited and inviting on the nose, showing dark and purple fruit intensity, star anise, liquorice, and cedar characters with a hint of dark cocoa. It’s succulent and weighty in the mouth, offering a silky texture backed by polished tannins, making it wonderfully flavoursome and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2036.

About this Wine

Shiraz

Bold and full-bodied, Shiraz delivers rich dark fruit flavours of blackberry, plum, and black cherry, layered with black pepper, clove, and subtle smoke. Firm tannins and a velvety texture give it real structure, often rounded out by notes of chocolate and vanilla from oak ageing. A versatile pairing partner for grilled meats and hearty dishes, it's one of Australia's most planted red varieties

South Australia

If you like Australian wine, then you probably like South Australia wine. The rich reds produced there put Australia on the wine-making map of the world. With over 40% of the countries vineyards, South Australia can rightfully call itself the wine state.

Wines are produced in several regions throughout the state, though many are naturally grouped together, like Barossa and Eden Valleys, only 15 minutes apart. They include such regions as Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Eden Valley, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Kangaroo Island, Langhorne Creek, The Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale and Wrattonbully to name but a few!

Barossa Valley boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia dating back to 1843 and produces some of the world's finest Shiraz, whilst the 'terra rossa' soils of Coonawarra is most suited to producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons. If you're a fan of Riesling, Clare Valley is a great place to explore and for a Maritime climate not dissimilar to parts of the Italian coastline, seek out the wines from McLaren Vale.
