Tasting Notes

Tasmania :: A warmer and drier start to vintage than previous years, then ideal conditions leading into budburst which allowed for good fruit set and bunch size. During the growing season, the northern Tamar region received above average temperatures, while parts of the island’s south experienced cooler than average temperatures.

Hand sorted on our sorting table. A 3 day cold soak at 8°C before naturally fermenting using indigenous yeast for 15 days on skins in a combination of concrete and stainless steel fermenters. Lightly pressed then aged in oak for 8 months where it went through a natural malolactic fermentation before it was blended, filtered and bottled.

Perfumed and expressive, this Pinot opens with beautiful fragrant black cherry and blueberry fruits and has a voluptuous charm with layers of aniseed, pink musk and blackberry finishing with a silky texture and chalky fine tannins.

Vinification & Cultivation

Vineyard Cultivation

This is Ten Minutes by Tractor's first Tasmanian release, extending the Mornington Peninsula estate's cool-climate focus to the island's cooler, higher-latitude sites. Fruit was drawn from Tasmanian vineyards, including the northern Tamar Valley, where cool maritime conditions and a long ripening deliver naturally high acidity and fragrant red and dark fruit. The 2024 season began warmer and drier than previous years, with settled conditions into budburst giving good fruit set and bunch size; the northern Tamar recorded above-average temperatures while parts of the island's south stayed cooler than average, preserving aromatic lift. Parcels were chosen to capture Tasmania's perfume and structure.

Vinification

Hand-sorted fruit was given a three-day cold soak at 8C before fermenting naturally on indigenous yeast for around 15 days on skins, in a combination of concrete and stainless-steel fermenters. After a light pressing the wine matured in oak for roughly eight months, completing a natural malolactic fermentation before blending, filtration and bottling. The gentle, low-extraction handling suits the fragrant black cherry and blueberry fruit, with layers of aniseed, pink musk and blackberry, finishing with a silky texture and chalky, fine-grained tannins.
