Tasting Notes

Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2007 1.5L Magnum is a legendary expression of Bolgheri and the original Super Tuscan. First produced in the 1960s by Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, Sassicaia changed the course of Italian wine history and established Cabernet-based wines from Tuscany on the world stage.

Elegant, complex, and beautifully structured, the 2007 vintage layers ripe cassis, cedar, aromatic herbs, and refined tannins. Its exceptional balance, depth, and longevity reflect the distinctive coastal terroir of Bolgheri, while the generous 1.5L magnum format is ideally suited to extended cellaring and memorable occasions.

Sourced from a premium private cellar, this iconic Italian red offers remarkable pedigree and sophistication. A distinguished addition to any fine wine collection, the Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2007 Magnum captures the enduring appeal of one of the world's most celebrated Cabernet-based wines.

Critic Scores

Intense dark ruby colour. Finely drawn nose with pronounced notes of dark currants, blackberries, some earthy components in the background, very clear. Extremely juicy on the palate, surprisingly open and accessible for Sassicaia, lots of crisp fruit, lots of fine-grained tannins, very elegant, long finish.

This iconic Italian wine from Bolgheri's landmark Sassicaia vineyard (characterized by little rocks, or “sassi”) offers an elegant bouquet comprised in equal measure by mineral, fruit and spice nuances. The wine consists of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc and the finish is long, smooth and very fine. This is an ageworthy wine that should not be opened before 2018.

A hot but not torrid growing season with fewer heat waves. This has a lively, garnet color and very Mediterranean aromas that are fragrant and intensely fruity with notes of black cherry, prune and raspberry. The mouthfeel is warm and has no tannic/acidic tartness making the flavors wrapping and pleasing while the finish is a tad diluted even if it remains persistent.
