Tasting Notes

Jean d'Alibert was appointed Abbot of Caunes-Minervois by King Henri IV in 1598. Abbot Jean d'Alibert had an original entrepreneurial activity, both for the monastery and for the economy of the region. It was he who made famous the marble quarry of Caunes Minervois, the most beautiful pieces of which adorn the most important monuments of the world (Italy, Versailles, Arabian Peninsula). Abbot Jean d'Alibert allowed the global influence of local products, and we continue to do this by exporting the wine of our terroir around the world.

This is a Light Pinot Noir. Small red fruit, fine acidity, fine bitterness, a juicy Pinot noir and transparent red in colour.

A very pleasant wine, with bursts of red fruit with a refreshing touch of pepper. Aromas of raspberries, cherries, hints of strawberry, oak and pepper. Ruby red with purplish hues.

Critic Scores

Elegant and charming, the wine shows ripe cherry, violet, clove, mushroom, and nutmeg notes on
the nose, followed by a brightly fruited palate displaying smooth texture and juicy acidity.
Beautifully composed with fine balance and delicate structure, finishing silky and tasty. At its
best: now to 2028.

Vinification & Cultivation

Crafted only for our premium wines

Vineyard Cultivation

Val St Pierre is a Languedoc label bottled as a United Cellars exclusive and sourced from the Pays d'Oc in the South of France, where Pinot Noir is grown in the cooler, higher pockets of the region to retain freshness and elegance. In this Mediterranean climate, warm, dry, sunny days are tempered by altitude and coastal or overnight cooling, allowing ripe cherry fruit to develop without heaviness. As a non-vintage wine, the base is built for a light, elegant and pretty style, blending parcels to a consistent house profile of bright red fruit, violet lift and a savoury, earthy edge. Specific vineyard sites and the producing house behind the label are not disclosed.

Vinification

Fruit is destemmed and fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures to preserve the fresh, brightly fruited character and juicy acidity that define the wine, with gentle handling to keep tannins fine and silky. Any oak influence is light or absent, the aim being an approachable, elegant Pinot showing ripe cherry, violet, clove and a savoury mushroom-and-nutmeg complexity rather than structure or weight. As a non-vintage cuvee, parcels and possibly vintages are blended for consistency of the house style. Precise fermentation, maturation and blending details are not published and would need verification.
