Tasting Notes

Warramate's Cabernets may be the most revealing expression of the estate's remarkable pedigree. Established in 1970 on a prized north-facing Yarra Valley site, the vineyard has long been recognised for its capacity to produce wines of depth, structure and distinction. Under the ownership of Yarra Yering, that potential is now being pursued with renewed precision and ambition.

The 2024 Cabernets offer a compelling introduction to this celebrated corner of the Yarra Valley. There is a clear connection to the philosophy that has made Yarra Yering's Dry Red No. 1 one of Australia's great Cabernet blends, with Warramate offering its own expression of the same distinguished region and vineyard expertise. Structured yet refined, deeply flavoured yet composed, this is a serious cool-climate Cabernet blend with an impressive sense of place.

Critic Scores

A blend of 45/20/15/15/5% cabernet sauvignon/malbec/merlot/petit verdot/cabernet franc. A bright, medium crimson. A perfumed bouquet of blackcurrant, crushed violets and gentle cedar notes. Medium bodied, gently juicy and, despite some persistent, fine-grained tannins, this is cabernet you can drink and enjoy now.
