Tasting Notes

Oyster shells, wet rocks, sea spray and orchard fruits. Finesse combine with pillowy fruit weight; this is a wine that has weight and texture coupled with a green apple crunch. An energy drives the palate with a pithy interest and a slippery texture on the back palate the gives ample weight and extraordinary carry. The fruit is supported by an extremely fine grained oak tannin framework which lingers on the finish.

Critic Scores

Light, bright yellow colour with fresh green-apple, oatmeal and nashi pear aromas, fruit driving the bouquet, the palate intense and focused, concentrated and long, with subtlety, delicacy and yet also restrained power, and bright acidity. Some toasty nut flavours join in the party with time in the glass. A very smart chardonnay with a lot of class.

Yarra Yering Chardonnay feels both traditional and modern at once. It’s tight, zesty and fresh, with excellent fruit quality and power, though it also flashes a bit of (integrated) oak at you, which personally I enjoy (in chardonnay). White peach, custard apples, cedarwood and spice characters come infused with toast, cinnamon and smoked hay notes. It’s firm, long and delicious; you could drink this now or, just as easily, cellar it for a decade. From all angles this wine is immaculate.

Pale colour. Lifted verbena, lime, grapefruit aromas with flinty, tonic water notes. Generously concentrated with lime grapefruit, hint marzipan flavours, loose knit lacy textures and fresh long quartz acidity. Very good mid-palate volume and mineral length with underlying bitter lemon notes at the finish. Should develop well with some extra bottle age.
