Tasting Notes

Founded by sparkling specialist Ed Carr, House of Arras sources only from Tasmania's coolest vineyards to capture purity and finesse.

For Cuvee 1801 Rose, 64% Pinot Noir, 27.4% Chardonnay and 8.6% Meunier are selected, with each variety contributing distinct fruit and structure. Grapes are gently pressed and base wines fermented in stainless steel, then blended and bottled for a traditional method second fermentation.

Extended lees ageing - four years in bottle - builds complexity and a creamy mousse. The wine is finished extra-brut, with a dosage of just 2.5 g/L, preserving brisk acidity and precision. On release, it shows a delicate pink colour, lifted aromas of wild strawberry, blood orange and subtle spice, and a refined, savoury palate with notes of red berries, chalk and brioche. The finish is persistent, dry and fresh, making it a benchmark for Australian rosé sparkling.

Vinification & Cultivation

Crafted only for our premium wines

Vineyard Cultivation

House of Arras is Tasmania's leading sparkling-wine house, working cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the island's southern and northern valleys. The Brut Rose Cuvee 1801 is a non-vintage rose built around Pinot Noir, drawn from premium Tasmanian vineyards on clay- and basalt-derived soils where a long, cool season preserves the bright acidity and delicate red-fruit character a fine rose sparkling needs. As a multi-vintage cuvee it is assembled across seasons to a consistent house style. Cool nights and careful picking retain the freshness and colour precision that define the wine.

Vinification

Made by the traditional method and led by Pinot Noir with Chardonnay, the hand-picked fruit is gently pressed, with the rose's pale colour and red-berry character drawn from the Pinot Noir. Base wines are blended across vintages before tirage, then the cuvee undergoes second fermentation in bottle and matures on lees to build fine mousse and subtle autolytic depth. After riddling it is disgorged and finished brut with a restrained dosage. The result shows strawberry and red-cherry fruit over a crisp, dry, mineral palate. Exact blend, rose technique, lees time and dosage NEEDS VERIFICATION.
