Amber Lane double-distils 100% Australian malted barley in 'The Mary Rose', a 3,600-litre copper pot still based on Springbank's design. The Apera 87 is a limited edition expression matured in Australian Apera casks — Apera being Australia's GI-protected name for locally produced sherry-style fortified wine. The Apera cask type imparts dried fruit, toffee, and fortified-wine character to the spirit. This expression earned Double Gold at international competition. Bottled at 54.5% ABV, non-chill-filtered, at natural colour, with no reduction or artificial additives. The '87' designation refers to the cask identifier.

Amber Lane Distillery is located in the Yarramalong Valley on the Central Coast of New South Wales, approximately 90 minutes north of Sydney. Founded in 2017 by amateur astronomers Rod Berry and Phil Townsend after a chance encounter with a small whisky distillery during a rural stargazing trip, Amber Lane has rapidly become one of Australia's most decorated craft producers. Every release to date has received at least one international competition medal, and the distillery took Champion Single Malt Whisky at the 2024 Sydney Royal Distilled Spirits Show. All expressions are produced from 100% Australian malted barley, double-distilled in a 3,600-litre copper pot still modelled on Springbank's Campbeltown design, and matured in large-format premium casks of 200–250 litres — primarily ex-bourbon (Heaven Hill) and ex-sherry from Spain.
