The Arran 14 Year Old marks the welcome return of one of Lochranza Distillery’s most celebrated expressions, combining extended maturation, classic Bourbon cask character and the distinctive influence of rare Palo Cortado Sherry casks.

A long-time favourite among Arran enthusiasts before being discontinued in 2018, the 14 Year Old once again takes its place in the distillery’s core collection. Elegant, complex and beautifully balanced, it represents a natural step up in richness and depth while retaining the vibrant fruit character for which Arran Single Malt is renowned.

Matured primarily in Bourbon Barrels and complemented by a proportion of Palo Cortado Sherry casks, the whisky brings together two distinct influences. The Bourbon casks contribute vanilla, ripe orchard fruit, citrus and gentle sweetness, while the Palo Cortado casks introduce greater depth, with dried fruit, toasted nuts, savoury complexity and subtle spice.

The additional maturation brings impressive texture and integration. Ripe apple, mandarin and tropical fruit are layered with toffee, sweet malt and restrained oak, while a delicate saline character provides freshness and balance through the finish.

Bottled at 46% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered, the Arran 14 Year Old is a wonderfully expressive Island Single Malt. Richer and more developed than the classic Arran 10 Year Old, yet still defined by freshness and fruit, it offers an excellent showcase of both mature Lochranza spirit and considered cask selection.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich and expressive, with fruit syrup, ripe apples and mandarin layered over cereal sweetness, gentle oak and a subtle coastal salinity.

Palate: Full and viscous, opening with salted apple and rich toffee before developing notes of ripe mango, orchard fruit, vanilla and toasted nuts.

Finish: Long and lingering, with soft oak, restrained sweetness, warming spice and a delicate saline edge providing freshness and definition.
