Rich, powerful and unapologetically full-flavoured, the Arran Sherry Cask is one of the most intensely expressive whiskies in the Lochranza Distillery range, showcasing Arran Single Malt matured exclusively in exceptional Sherry casks.

Unlike a cask-finished expression, this whisky is matured entirely in carefully selected Sherry casks sourced from leading bodegas in Jerez, Spain. Under the direction of Distillery Manager Stewart Bowman, casks are chosen for their ability to deliver richness and complexity while preserving the vibrant fruit character that defines Arran's spirit.

The result is a deeply flavoured Single Malt packed with dark and dried fruits, chocolate, sweet spice, roasted nuts and beautifully integrated oak. Ripe fig and sweet cherry provide richness through the palate, while mandarin and brighter fruit notes bring freshness and prevent the Sherry influence from becoming overly heavy.

Bottled at a powerful 55.8% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered, the Arran Sherry Cask delivers exceptional concentration, texture and intensity. Despite its strength, there is impressive balance between fruit, spice and oak, leading to a long, warming and complex finish. It can be enjoyed neat for maximum intensity or with a small amount of water to open up further layers of fruit and spice.

The expression also pays tribute to the early years of Arran Single Malt, when many of the distillery's releases were predominantly matured in Sherry casks. It is both a nod to those richly sherried beginnings and a compelling demonstration of the quality and maturity of the spirit being produced at Lochranza today.

For drinkers who favour powerful, Sherry-driven Scotch whisky, this is one of the most distinctive expressions in the Arran range.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich and concentrated, with chocolate-coated raisins and ripe mandarin complemented by dried fruit, roasted nuts and a gentle lift of warming spice.

Palate: Full-bodied and wonderfully chewy, with ripe fig and sweet cherry at the forefront. Dark fruit, chocolate and sweet spice build through the palate, balanced by fresh citrus and the natural vibrancy of the Arran spirit.

Finish: Long, powerful and warming, with pink pepper, roasted hazelnuts and toasted oak lingering alongside rich dark fruit and spice.
