Tasting Notes

Chappellet Signature Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 represents a pinnacle of Napa Valley winemaking tradition and excellence. As one of the pioneering wineries in the region, Chappellet has played a historic role since its establishment shortly after the repeal of Prohibition, becoming the 18th registered member of the prestigious Napa Valley Vintners. This legacy is embodied in their flagship wine, the Signature Cabernet Sauvignon, which has set the standard for hillside Cabernet Sauvignons for over three decades.

Crafted from carefully selected grapes grown on the renowned Napa Valley hillsides, the 2022 vintage showcases the exceptional terroir that defines this celebrated wine region. Known for its structured profile and remarkable aging potential, this Cabernet Sauvignon delivers a rich and complex tasting experience. Expect layers of dark berry fruits, cassis, and subtle hints of cedar and spice, all supported by firm yet refined tannins that promise longevity and evolving character over time.

This wine is a true benchmark for Napa Valley’s hillside expressions, combining power and elegance with a meticulous balance that reflects the vineyard’s unique microclimate and expert craftsmanship. The 2022 vintage continues this tradition, offering a wine that will reward patience with its depth and complexity.

Available through International On Demand - La Place de Bordeaux Pre-Arrival Offer, with estimated dispatch from April 2026 onwards, the Chappellet Signature Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is a coveted addition to any collection. Its heritage, quality, and aging potential make it a standout example of Napa Valley’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon wines.

Critic Scores

Excellent quality, fresh and full of personality. Black cherry, sandalwood, rose bud, liquorice root, crayon, graphite, totally delicious. Love the expansion through the palate and the juicy finish, this is concentrated and powerful with silky tannins, super enjoyable. Philip Titus winemaker. - Jane Anson

Highly perfumed and scented with some pepper spice, minty menthol aspects, damsons, cherries and blackcurrants. Floral accents too. Grippy in the best way, this captures your attention and doesn't let it go. Amazing minerality - the salty wet stones linger on the palate with a mineral, saline aspect alongside the blackcurrants and plums. Still quite compact and a touch strict in terms of tannins and spice - vanilla, chocolate and lots of oak but this will settle. Great quality. Owners the Chappellet family with director David Frankie and winemaker Philip Titus. 2% Merlot completes the blend. - Georgina Hindle

(Napa Valley; 82% Cabernet Sauvignon; 9% Petit Verdot; 7% Malbec; 2% Merlot; pH 3.72; 14.5% alcohol). Incense. Scented candles. Sweet spice box notes. Embers. Plums and damsons, both fresh and baked. Cedar and acacia, with more coming through on the palate. Sweet and floral on the attack with a confit rose petal component that is very distinctive and engaging. The tannins are creamy and this is long and well-sustained if a little monotone on the finish. The alcohol is nicely kept in check. Perhaps just a little sweet-scented on the palate for my taste. 95. - Colin Hay
