"(Pauillac; 67% Cabernet Sauvignon; 21% Merlot; 10% Cabernet Franc; 2% Petit Verdot; pH 3.70; 13% alcohol; tasted at the UGCB press tasting at the Cité du Vin and then at Mouton-Rothschild with Jean-Emmanuel Danjoy). Beautifully aromatic and highly expressive, with a lovely wild floral note, thyme and a little sage and those popping, perfectly ripe, plump berries generously enrobed in graphite with the cedar arriving in the mid-palate with the cassis. There's a little elderflower too. This is a much more classical and even slightly opulent Pauillac than it once was and I am struck again by the quality of the work that has been undertaken here in recent vintages. This is first of the Mouton stable to have been upgeaded and the results are now very clear to see. - 94 to 96 Points - Colin Hay"

At the lift of the glass, the purity of Cabernet Sauvignon springs to life, moving toward you with a light, almost dancing grace. A lifted acidity draws the wine into a space of clarity and light, where everything feels open and finely defined. Even though the tannic structure remains firm, and the finish shows a hint of playful firmness, there is no sense of pressure. "Aromatic intensity, wild flowers, some chocolate and blackcurrant notes. Red cherries. Grippy and filling but soft, chalky and saline, a gorgeous weight on the palate with ripe bramble berries, cool blue fruit and lots of cola, liquorice and wet stones. Very transparent and hands off. A touch straight but lovely muscular edge without the heft. Juicy, fun, clean, pure. Balanced. Savoury. Great job controlling the extraction – tannins are there but this is sapid too. A little more serious and structured and perhaps overall elegant than Clerc. A 2% dash of Petit Verdot completes the blend. - Georgina Hindle"

Château D'armailhac, Previously Named Château Mouton-d'armailhacq (Historical Name From Inception, 1750–1955), Château Mouton-baron Philippe (1956–1973), Mouton Baronne (1974–1978) And Château Mouton-baronne-philippe (1979–1988), Is A Winery In The Pauillac Appellation Of The Bordeaux Region Of France. The Wine Produced Here Was Classified As One Of Eighteen Cinquièmes Crus (Fifth Growths) In The Bordeaux Wine Official Classification Of 1855.

The Chateau Has 126 Acres (0.51 Km2) Planted With Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, And Petit Verdot With An Average Annual Production Of Over 18,000 Cases. Purchased By Baron Philippe De Rothschild In 1934, The Estate Is Currently Owned By The Mouton Branch Of The Rothschild Family.
