Critic Scores

The texture and depth are really impressive for this chateau and might be its best wine ever. It’s medium-bodied with integrated and refined tannins, a powdery and textured mouthfeel and an endless finish. Floating on the pure fruit. 65% cabernet sauvignon, 18% merlot, 11% cabernet franc and 6% petit verdot. - James Suckling

The Tertre displays great finesse in its bouquet, with notes of mint and graphite, along with hints of licorice and black berries. Smooth on the attack, the wine possesses a certain breadth. Mid-palate, the tannins take over, providing amplitude and freshness, supported by the acidity. A fresh, elegant, and flavorful wine that has yet to reveal its full potential, but has certainly laid the groundwork! 2029-2050 - 94 to 95 Points - Yves Beck

(Margaux; 65% Cabernet Sauvignon; 18% Merlot; 11% Cabernet Franc; 6% Petit Verdot; a final yield of 30.2 hl/ha; pH 3.58; IPT 70; 13.2% alcohol). This is ethereal - staggeringly pure and lifted, aerial and luminous. It showcases the Cabernet fruit of the estate so brilliantly. This is one of the most vibrant, vivid and dynamic wines of the entire Médoc in this vintage and that speaks volumes to the work that has been done in the vineyard here is recent years. A study in purity and a study in Margaux terroir too, I'm in raptures. I have never tasted better from here. - 93 to 95 Points - Colin Hay

Spending time with this wine feels quiet and reassuring. It carries a sense of inner calm that endures even after the trials of intense heat. The aromatics are as clear as reflections on a still lake, precise yet ethereal, with violet and iris gently emerging to trace an elegant outline. On the palate, pomegranate and sour plum sorbet slip in at once, allowing the tannins to fade quietly into the background. I am well aware of the efforts Château du Tertre has devoted to both vineyard and cellar in recent years, and the 2025 vintage truly marks a new era for the estate. - 93 to 95 Points - Alexandre Ma

Ripe red fruit and exotic spiced notes on the nose. Juicy, succulent and clean, this has great energy and such well integrated tannins so that they give the frame and structure but very lightly letting the raspberry and red cherry fruit speak as well as a soft wet stone and flint touches. Refined and elegant and really approachable too. I like this a lot. One to watch. 3.58pH. 70 IPT. 75% of grand vin. Ageing 40% new oak, 60% one-year-old barrels. - Georgina Hindle
