    • Description

Picpoul de Pinet is located in the Languedoc region in the south of France. It is one of the few regions in France that is named after the grape varietal that is most common there. Grown meters from the oyster beds of the Bassin de Thau, it pairs perfectly with fish and shellfish.

Pale gold in colour with light green reflections. The bouquet shows white peach, bananas, perfume of white roses. This wine is crisp and bright, with with subtle floral and mineral notes on the finish. Bracing acidity backs up this lively wine.

The passion of winegrower and wine-producer is an old tradition for the family de Clock. Originally from Holland, Jean Clock settled in Bordeaux in 1679, and decided to cultivate a vineyard in that region. As a result King Louis the XIV, who recognised the quality of his wines, naturalised him as a French citizen in 1686. In his lineage, Jean-Baptiste-Alexandre was ennobled in 1757 by Great Counsellor of the King (Conseiller Grand Secrétaire du Roi). Leon de Clock married Camille de Vulliod and like numerous generations of winegrowers before him, he undertook the management of the vineyard and the domaine. “Le Château Font-Mars” (The Castle of Font-Mars) is situated on the property at Mèze. Since 1864 until today the property was managed by the ancestors of Camille (Privat, Allié, Guibert, de Vulliod). Jean-Baptiste de Clock, their youngest son, is now the owner and perpetuates both family traditions. The vineyards cover 55 hectares and the terroir contains three different kins of soil: pliocène marin in the south, river formation in the west along the river Negue-Vaques, bégudo Rognacien, clay-chalk type in the Northeast.

The passion of wine growing and producing is an old tradition for the de Clock family. Originally of Dutch origins, Jean Clock, settled in Bordeaux in 1679 and decided to cultivate a vineyard that would last in the region for centuries. As a result of his incredible contribution, King Louis the XIV (who recognized the quality of his wines) naturalized him French in 1686.
Like numerous generations of winegrowers and just after his marriage with Camille de Vulliod, Leon de Clock undertook to manage the vineyard of the Domaine. Le Château Font-Mars (The Castle of Font-Mars) is still situated on the property at Mèze. Since 1864 until today the property has been managed by the ancestors of Camille, with Jean-Baptiste de Clock (their youngest son) now the owner, he continues to perpetuate the family traditions with pride.
