Tasting Notes

Coriole Lloyd Reserve Shiraz 2012 stands as a distinguished example of premium McLaren Vale winemaking, crafted by one of the region’s most respected family-owned estates. Named in honour of founder Hugh Lloyd, this flagship Shiraz reflects over five decades of winemaking excellence since Coriole’s establishment in 1967.

Produced exclusively from hand-selected, exceptional parcels of fruit, the 2012 vintage offers profound depth and sophistication. This Shiraz reveals layered aromas of ripe dark berries intertwined with nuanced spice, earthiness, and finely integrated oak influences. On the palate, it delivers a plush, full-bodied experience supported by velvety tannins and a long, elegant finish that captures the essence of McLaren Vale’s unique terroir.

Critic Scores

Deep garnet/purple, the 2012 Shiraz Lloyd Reserve is profoundly scented of crushed blueberries, blackberries and mulberries with hints of cedar, toast, marmite, menthol, spice box and anise. This full-bodied and concentrated Syrah is built like a brick house giving muscular fruit flavors that are structured by firm, fine tannins. It has a long, well-poised finish.

About this Wine

Shiraz

Bold and full-bodied, Shiraz delivers rich dark fruit flavours of blackberry, plum, and black cherry, layered with black pepper, clove, and subtle smoke. Firm tannins and a velvety texture give it real structure, often rounded out by notes of chocolate and vanilla from oak ageing. A versatile pairing partner for grilled meats and hearty dishes, it's one of Australia's most planted red varieties

South Australia

If you like Australian wine, then you probably like South Australia wine. The rich reds produced there put Australia on the wine-making map of the world. With over 40% of the countries vineyards, South Australia can rightfully call itself the wine state.

Wines are produced in several regions throughout the state, though many are naturally grouped together, like Barossa and Eden Valleys, only 15 minutes apart. They include such regions as Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Eden Valley, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Kangaroo Island, Langhorne Creek, The Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale and Wrattonbully to name but a few!

Barossa Valley boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia dating back to 1843 and produces some of the world's finest Shiraz, whilst the 'terra rossa' soils of Coonawarra is most suited to producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons. If you're a fan of Riesling, Clare Valley is a great place to explore and for a Maritime climate not dissimilar to parts of the Italian coastline, seek out the wines from McLaren Vale.
