Tasting Notes

This Pinot Grigio is a crisp and elegant white wine showcasing the freshness of the King Valley.

Pale straw in colour with lime green hues, it opens with bright aromatics of lemon tart, wildflowers, pear, green apple, and lime.

The palate is silky and smooth, with layers of citrus, fresh pear, honey, and subtle floral notes wrapped in stone fruit texture. Balanced acidity gives the wine a refreshing lift, making it a versatile companion for any occasion. Best enjoyed now through to 2028.

Vineyard Cultivation

Dal Zotto Wines is a family estate in the King Valley of north-east Victoria, founded by Otto Dal Zotto, an immigrant from Valdobbiadene in Italy's Veneto, and a pioneer of Italian varieties in the region. The Pinot Grigio is 100% King Valley fruit, drawn from selected low-intervention vineyards across the valley's cooler, higher-altitude sites, where alpine influence and good diurnal range preserve the crisp acidity and delicate aromatics that suit the variety. As a consistent house style, it prioritises fresh, food-friendly fruit selected each year rather than the mark of a single season.

Vinification

Made with small-batch, hand-crafted techniques, the fruit is gently handled and cool-fermented to protect its delicate aromatics, then finished in a dry, savoury and textural style. Stainless-steel handling and minimal intervention keep the wine fresh and precise, with a fine mineral thread lending detail to the finish. Expect vibrant Nashi pear and quince aromas, and a palate of preserved lemon rind, fennel and pear that stays lively, dry and cleanly structured.

About this Wine

Victoria

The wine region of Victoria has the highest number of grape vines than any other state in Australia. It is home to over 600 wineries and well known regions such as Yarra valley, Heathcote, and Rutherglen. Victoria is situated in the southeastern corner of Australia where due to the location, the climate has a cool maritime influence and is known for their outstanding Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, along with producing Australia’s most famed dessert Muscat and Topaque wines.

There are a number of different terroir levels throughout the wine region of Victoria which leads to the production of different ranges of wines. In the southern region of Victoria, the vines are regulated by the cool winds of the Bass Strait. Central Victoria consists of mostly flat terrain that tends to be drier and warmer than the rest of Victoria, which results in more fruit concentrated wines. It may be surprising to note that Victoria is the third most productive wine region in Australia, seeing as it does not have as many areas suitable for viticulture, which has resulted in the cellar door culture of Victoria being concentrated with smaller, but more personal boutique wineries.
