Tasting Notes

Headed by one of Australia’s brightest winemaking talents, Elena Brooks, Dandelion Vineyards brings together an array of heirloom vineyards and artisan craftsmanship, creating wines that, while broad and varied, still have clarity and interest.

Elena’s passion for winemaking began in her native Bulgaria, where she developed her skills from a young age, translating tastings and building her wine vocabulary before making her first wine at 16.

Today, she applies her expertise across South Australia’s premium regions, such as Adelaide Hills, Eden Valley, McLaren Vale, Barossa, and Coonawarra, crafting densely packed wines that are bright, transparent, and marked by a sensitive approach to oak. With a commitment to sustainability and quality, Dandelion Vineyards produces wines that capture the essence of their unique terroir, each bottle reflecting the dedication and care put into its creation.

Critic Scores

A magnificent offering, the enticing bouquet shows cassis, cedar, tobacco, mixed spice and floral aromas. The concentrated palate exhibits outstanding depth and opulent texture, beautifully countered by layers of fine tannins. The wine combines power and sophistication, finishing persistent and gratifying. At its best: now to 2039.

About this Wine

Dandelion Vineyards

"This is a highly impressive partnership... It brings together vineyards spread across the Adelaide Hills, Eden Valley, Langhorne Creek, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley and Fleurieu Peninsula. Elena is not only the beautiful wife of industry dilettante Zar Brooks, but also an exceptionally gifted winemaker."

South Australia

If you like Australian wine, then you probably like South Australia wine. The rich reds produced there put Australia on the wine-making map of the world. With over 40% of the countries vineyards, South Australia can rightfully call itself the wine state.

Wines are produced in several regions throughout the state, though many are naturally grouped together, like Barossa and Eden Valleys, only 15 minutes apart. They include such regions as Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Eden Valley, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Kangaroo Island, Langhorne Creek, The Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale and Wrattonbully to name but a few!

Barossa Valley boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia dating back to 1843 and produces some of the world's finest Shiraz, whilst the 'terra rossa' soils of Coonawarra is most suited to producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons. If you're a fan of Riesling, Clare Valley is a great place to explore and for a Maritime climate not dissimilar to parts of the Italian coastline, seek out the wines from McLaren Vale.
