Domaine 47N3E Chablis 1er cru 'Beauroy' 2023
Tasting Notes
Named for the exact geographical coordinates of his native village of Beines, Guillaume Michaut’s Domaine 47°N 3°E is one of the most compelling micro-projects emerging from Chablis today. After branching out from his family’s estate, Michaut has dedicated himself to meticulous organic and biodynamic practices on just a handful of confidential plots. His 0.6-hectare parcel in the Premier Cru 'Beauroy' (specifically situated within the esteemed lieu-dit Côte de Savant) yields a Chardonnay that completely eschews heavy-handed oak manipulation, opting instead for a pure, unadorned expression of Chablisienne Kimmeridgian terroir.
The 2023 vintage is a masterclass in airy, crystalline volume. Raised entirely in stainless steel to protect its foundational energy, it opens with a highly perfumed, direct nose of ripe lemon citrus, white stone fruits, and distinct iodine notes. On the palate, the wine balances a gourmand, textural breadth with a beautifully chiseled, mineral spine. It feels incredibly alive—sparkling with low-intervention energy and a long, expansive finish marked by a distinct slap of marine salinity. For the sophisticated collector, this is a brilliantly precise, low-intervention Premier Cru that captures the raw, contemporary heartbeat of Chablis.
