Tasting Notes

Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2024 is a distinguished Burgundy Pinot Noir from one of the Côte de Nuits’ most revered Premier Cru climats.

Farmed from a tiny parcel of approximately 19.65 ares, Les Amoureuses lies just below the celebrated Musigny Grand Cru. This exceptional site is renowned for producing wines of remarkable elegance, aromatic intensity, complexity, and supple texture, with a reputation for rivaling many Grand Crus.

The 2024 vintage expresses the signature finesse of Chambolle-Musigny, combining refined red-fruit character with layers of floral perfume, subtle spice, and graceful structure. Silky and sophisticated on the palate, it offers impressive depth while retaining the delicacy and poise associated with this legendary appellation.

Rated 97 points by James Suckling, this rare Premier Cru Burgundy showcases the pedigree of Domaine de la Pousse d'Or and the extraordinary character of Les Amoureuses.

Critic Scores

Aromas of minerals and wet stones. Rose hip and wild raspberry flavors. Medium- to full-bodied with structured tannins, a touch of finesse and a lasting finish going on and on. It shows the ethereal quality you expect from pinot. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. It will take some time to open up, even coming from this lighter but refined vintage. Drink from 2030.

About this Wine

Pinot Noir

A thin-skinned red grape known for its light body, red fruit character, and sensitivity to terroir, grown around the world.

Burgundy

Burgundy is undoubtedly the home of the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnays in the world, where vineyards, or Domaines have been producing wines for over 2000 years. Burgundy is located in the North-east of France, an hours drive from Lyon and 2 hours from Paris. With over 100 appellations, or sub-regions (more than any other wine region) Burgundy is known for being the most terroir-oriented region in the World. The finest red wines of Burgundy are found in the Côte d'Or, a string of villages including Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey St Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-St Georges.

There are flavours present in great Burgundys that are the envy of Pinot Noir producers worldwide. The elusive peacocks tail finish that goes on and on, and the pretty-elegance backed by Burgundy muscle is the goal of winemakers around the globe. The main levels in the Burgundy classifications, in descending order of quality, are: Grand crus, Premier crus, village appellations, and finally regional appellations. For the Chablis wines, a similar hierarchy of Grand Cru, Premier Cru and Village wines is used, plus Petit Chablis as a level below Village Chablis.
