This wine is made from four different vineyard plots. Under the guidance of Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau, the quality of this wine has significantly improved and now comes close to matching the estate’s top cuvées.

This wine was formerly labelled as 'Blanc Fume de Pouilly' but has since been changed to 'Blanc etc.' after the producer withdrew from the appellation system.

“The Dagueneau wines are, if anything, even better and more precisely defined than they were during Didier’s time.” Jon Bonne, The New French Wine

Tasting Notes

This comes from four vineyard parcels: two young vines on the Saint-Andelain hill in the Bois de Saint-Andelain climat. The other two sources aren’t on the ‘hill’; one is a parcel of 15- to 20-year-old vines on flinty/clay soils, and another on limestone/marl in Les Coques. These sites produce the most direct, accessible expression of Pouilly-Fumé. Under Louis-Benjamin's guidance, its quality has improved dramatically, now rivalling his other wines. Layered and already open, the 2023 offers enormous complexity and pleasure for a young Dagueneau. Of course, it will only get better after 3 to 10 years in bottle.

Vinification & Cultivation

Crafted only for our premium wines

Vineyard Cultivation

The Blanc Etc cuvée draws from the domaine's core Pouilly-Fumé holdings, crafted with the same rigorous viticulture that defines the house. Low-yield cultivation—limited to 35 hl/ha—ensures phenolic maturity and concentration. The 2023 growing season proved challenging across Loire Valley, characterised by cool, cloudy conditions and persistent humidity through much of the growing season. Despite disease pressure requiring intensive canopy management, selective harvesting and careful sorting preserved fruit quality for this exceptional vintage.

Vinification

The 2023 vintage demanded meticulous cellar work. Grapes were hand-selected during harvest and fermented in oak using indigenous yeasts. Extended time on lees—typically 12–18 months—allows the wine to develop depth and complexity. The 2023 conditions resulted in lighter, fresher wines with balanced ripe fruit and supple character. No filtration preserves the wine's natural texture and ageing potential.
