Domaine Didier Dagueneau Vin de France Buisson Renard 2023
Domaine Didier Dagueneau Vin de France Buisson Renard 2023
Tasting Notes
Now priced above Pur Sang, this wine reflects how highly the domaine values the Buisson Renard site. Located on the southwest side of the Saint-Andelain hill, it is a cool, mid-slope terroir with soils made up of flint and clay, known in French as silex.
Historically, the site was called Buisson Menard, and the wine was initially released under that name. However, a wine writer mistakenly reviewed it as Buisson Renard. Since renard means fox and buisson means bush, the accidental name translates amusingly to "fox bush." Didier Dagueneau found the error hilarious and officially adopted the name from the following vintage.
The wine is fermented in barrels and aged in Dagueneau’s distinctive cigar-shaped barrels, custom-made in 450 and 600-litre formats to support gentle maturation and preserve precision.
