"Intensely good wine. The colour is a fairly deep ruby, and the nose displays a lush, plummy fruit. There are no heavy, smoky aromas, just clean, pure fruit and floral notes. The texture is supple and dense with a lively acidity that carries this to a superbly ripe, long finish. Dujac has 0.59 hectares in total in two sections. They picked everything here on 25 September, in advance of their other grand crus, to spectacular result. (Charles Curtis MW)"

"After all of the red fruity fireworks on display with so many of the 2021s from Domaine Dujac, I was surprised to find how black fruity their excellent Bonnes-Mares is this year. The bouquet offers up scents of black cherries, sweet dark berries, venison, coffee bean, a touch of stems, a complex base of soil, mustard seed, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, reserved in personality and full-bodied, with a rock solid core of fruit, excellent mineral drive, ripe tannins and a long, beautifully balanced and youthful finish. This will be excellent, but it is going to need some extended nap time before it is ready to drink."

More interesting are the dense, power and palate staining big-bodied and powerful flavors that are shaped by sleek fine-grained tannins on the moderately austere and impressive long finish. As is typically the case, this is really quite serious and compact, but the balance is impeccable, and this should age gracefully over the mid- to long-term. Don't Miss!"

"The 2021 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru was one of the first vineyards picked on 25 September and was made with 70% whole clusters. It is quite stemmy on the nose to the point where it slightly occludes the terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, rather complex but I hope that racking will provide more flesh and fruite on the finish to counterbalance the stems. I am more taken with the Clos de la Roche this year. (NM)"

Domaine Dujac

Domaine Dujac in Burgundy was acquired by Jacques Seysses in 1967. The domaine in Morey-St-Denis had 4 hectares of vineyards and he has subsequently built it up to 11.5 hectares. Domaine Dujac now includes holdings in Clos de la Roche, Clos St-Denis, Bonnes-Mares, Echézeaux and Charmes-Chambertin . “Use knowledge and technology to counter accidents – for example, bad weather – but, if all is going well, don’t interfere,” says Seysses and this principle guides much of what happens in the vineyards and the cellars. Dujac wines are neither filtered nor fined and all of his premiers and grands crus are aged in 100% new oak. These are wines of the very highest order.

Dujac wines are not necessarily the deepest in colour but are noted for their exceptional fragrance, structure and longevity. With seven grands crus in the stable, Dujac is today one of Burgundy’s leading domaines.
