Don Julio 1942 is an Añejo tequila produced at La Primavera distillery (NOM 1449) in Atotonilco el Alto, Los Altos Highlands, Jalisco. Named for the year Don Julio González first began farming agave in the Highlands, the 1942 expression was created in 2002 as a prestige offering. The tequila is produced from 100% Blue Weber agave, double-distilled in copper pot stills, and then aged for a minimum of two-and-a-half years in small American white oak barrels — an extended añejo maturation that develops notes of vanilla, caramel, toasted oak, and chocolate layered over the cooked agave base. Presented in a distinctive tall, slender bottle.
