La Bota 88 'Overseas' is a single cask Scotch malt whisky of approximately twelve years of age, the last seven of which were spent in a single cask sourced from a Solera of very old, dry Oloroso Sherry in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The whisky was distilled at an undisclosed Scottish distillery and carries a peated character, described as Islay-influenced in profile. The old Oloroso cask has layered the underlying malt spirit with dried fig, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and oxidative complexity from the Sherry wood, balanced by a fragrant, smoky maritime character. Bottled at 46% ABV from a single cask; only 700 bottles were produced, bottled in 2018.

Equipo Navazos is a private buying club and bottling project founded in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Andalusia, by Jesús Barquín and Eduardo Ojeda — initially dedicated to sourcing and bottling outstanding Sherry from individual Solera casks. The La Bota ('the boot') series assigns a sequential number to each successive release. La Bota 88 'Overseas' is a departure into Scotch malt whisky, sourced from an unnamed distillery in Scotland — the 'Overseas' designation acknowledging its distant origins. The malt whisky was shipped to Sanlúcar de Barrameda, where it was aged in a single ex-Sherry cask repurposed from a very old dry Oloroso Solera, marrying Scotch whisky craft with Andalusian Sherry heritage.
