    • Description

The very small estate that is Champagne George Laval has been growing grapes for generations but it was in the early 70's that George began to bottle his wines under his own banner as well as working organically. They have around 2.5 hectares in the small enclave of Cumieres just outside of Epernay in Vallée de la Marne.

George's son Vincent has been head of the domaine since 1996 and has kept the same exacting standards over their tiny production. With limited production and an almost invisibility in their village the secret that is George Laval has slowly spread in Champagne aficionado circles.

This is a blend 55% Pinot Noir, 10 Pinot Meunier & 35% Chardonny, elvaged in neutral oak and disgorged after 18 months in bottle. This is never a vintage mix, but cant be classed as a vintage champagne as it has not aged sur latte for long enough to achieve vintage status. Ripe of fruit, a generosity to the palate yet bone dry, incredibly complex, notes of citrus and chalky mineral textures and a long precise finish. Like precious few Champagnes, this is a very serious wine that will reward patience in the cellar.
