Vineyard Cultivation

The Valpolicella Classico Superiore comes from older vines within the family's historic vineyard holdings in the Classico zone. These parcels occupy volcanic soils rich in iron oxides, combined with limestone elements from the Lessini Mountains, creating the distinctive mineral framework of Valpolicella. The vines receive generous sun exposure from their south-facing aspect, promoting even ripening of Corvina and the blend's other components. The 2011 vintage saw moderate temperatures with balanced rainfall, conditions that favoured the development of complexity and fine-grained tannin structure in the resulting wine.

Vinification

The grapes underwent natural fermentation in large wooden vats, a technique fundamental to Quintarelli's philosophy. The wine was left on skins for extended maceration to develop colour, tannin and aromatic complexity. Post-fermentation, Valpolicella Classico Superiore spent time in a combination of neutral oak and larger wooden vessels, allowing gradual maturation and integration of structural elements. The producer's approach emphasises minimalist intervention and the preservation of varietal freshness alongside the complexity gained through élevage.
