After Prohibition and a devastating fire forced its closure, the distillery remained silent for decades.

That silence ended in 2016, when the distillery was restored in its original Owensboro location. Now under the guardianship of Bardstown Bourbon Company, Green River is back on the map - not as a relic, but as a serious player with deep roots and a modern edge.

Crafted with a mash bill of 70% Kentucky-grown corn, 21% rye, and 9% malted barley, this high-rye straight bourbon is aged around five years and bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV). The result is a whiskey that blends richness and approachability with just enough rye spice to add definition.

The nose opens with a warm medley of vanilla bean, caramelised sugar, cinnamon, and toasted oak. Hints of mint chocolate and dried fruit bring lift and complexity, while a touch of pepper offers a lively contrast.

On the palate, a classic Kentucky profile unfolds: sweet corn, honeyed cereal, and orchard fruit meet cinnamon toast and roasted pecan. The mid-palate introduces tobacco leaf and baking spice, all wrapped in a supple texture supported by gentle oak tannins.

The finish is clean and inviting - caramel, leather, and a soft echo of rye spice trailing with quiet persistence.
