Ritual, Memory, and Agave in the Shadows

KAH means "life" in ancient Mayan. But this tequila doesn't just celebrate the living. It honours what came before - the stories, the symbols, and the smoke that still lingers after the fire. Inspired by DIa de los Muertos and housed in a ceramic skull that demands attention, KAH ANejo walks a deliberate line between ceremony and spirit.

Behind the bottle - hand-painted, heavy, unmistakable - is an Anejo that doesn't lean on design to do the work. Aged two full years in American oak, it shows the deeper potential of Blue Weber agave when it's given time, space, and structure.

This isn't an Anejo that drifts into sweetness. It carries weight, warmth, and oak, but the soul of the agave remains intact.

The nose opens dark: caramel, cocoa, cinnamon, and toasted spice, with a smoky edge that feels barrel-born rather than engineered. Roasted agave comes through steadily - not the lead note, but the backbone. There's dried fig and black coffee in the mix too, adding complexity without clutter.

On the palate, it lands full and warm. Layers of butterscotch and charred oak unfold slowly, wrapped around espresso, baking spice, and dark vanilla. The oak is expressive but not overpowering. There's a touch of vegetal grip underneath it all that reminds you: this isn't a whisky. It's tequila with history.

The finish stretches long. Black pepper, dry cacao, and a flicker of smoke trail off clean, like incense curling into silence. It doesn't fade. It resolves.

KAH ANejo is meant to be sipped neat - no distractions, no garnish, just time and a proper glass. But it also holds up beautifully in a spirit-forward cocktail, especially an Old Fashioned built with mole bitters or a smoked agave syrup. Pair it with dark chocolate, roasted nuts, or late-night conversation.

This is a bottle that makes an entrance - but it stays because the liquid has purpose. It's bold, not brash. Dark, not sweet. And every element, from the oak to the artwork, ties back to one thing: a respect for the dead, and a reverence for the agave that keeps giving.
