Critic Scores

Beautifully fruited and inviting, the bouquet presents sweet plum, olive, nutmeg, and floral aromas, followed by a silky-smooth palate that's rounded and supple. Attractively styled and expressed with elegant structure, leading to a pleasingly dry finish.

As with the Chardonnay from this producer, the subtle use of oak in this wine gives some structure here without being oaky as such - it’s a deft touch that is rarely seen at this price. The fruit is wonderfully bright and berried, wild strawberries, cranberries and maybe a very subtle hint of something darker like plums and spice. It’s hard not to really like this wine as that fruit is so attractive. Some oak derived tannins give texture and frame to the wine suggesting it’s more serious than its similarly priced peers. Actually very good quality for the price as I take another sip. A bargain here.

Vinification & Cultivation

Crafted only for our premium wines

Vineyard Cultivation

Les Mougeottes is a Pays d'Oc range built around varietal wines from the southern French hills of the Languedoc-Roussillon. For the Pinot Noir, fruit is sourced from cooler vineyard sites scattered across the region, where higher elevation and fresher nights help this Burgundian variety hold aroma and acidity in an otherwise warm Mediterranean climate. The aim is a purer, more elegant expression than most Pinot at this price, with wild strawberry and floral lift. The 2024 season in the Languedoc followed a wetter cycle than the recent run of drought years, and cooler-site selection was again central to preserving freshness in the finished wine.

Vinification

Grapes were destemmed and fermented in temperature-controlled tanks, with maceration managed to keep tannins silky and the fruit bright. A subtle, well-judged use of oak gives the wine structure and a little tannic frame without tasting overtly oaky, a deft touch rarely seen at this price. The result is a supple, rounded palate of wild strawberry, cranberry and a hint of darker plum and spice, finishing dry with elegant structure. It is styled for early drinking while showing more seriousness than similarly priced peers.
