Longview is a family-owned, single-estate vineyard at Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills, run by the Saturno family, with Peter Saturno managing the property. Longview first planted Nebbiolo in 1995 and is among Australia's leading exponents of the variety. The Saturnus is drawn from blocks NEB1, 3 and 10, with clone 230 and a Mudgee selection making up around 85% of the blend and clone 1-11 adding fragrance. The cool, elevated Hills climate and long, even ripening suit Nebbiolo's demanding phenology, and meticulous canopy work and fruit selection through the 2022 season captured the variety's perfume, structure and freshness.

Hand-harvested fruit was bunch- and berry-sorted, then vinified using traditional techniques and left on skins for around twelve weeks to build Nebbiolo's characteristic firm, fine-grained tannin. After a long maceration the wine was pressed and matured for eighteen months in seasoned French oak puncheons together with a 2,500-litre Austrian Botti, the large-format seasoned oak lending structure and slow oxidative development without overt oak flavour. The extended skin contact and neutral maturation produced the cranberry, rosehip and spice profile, ferrous tannin and bright acidity praised by critics.
