Tasting Notes

Mockingbird Hill Slate Lane Shiraz 2016 showcases the generous fruit, peppery spice and approachable structure that define classic Australian Shiraz. Sourced from a premium private cellar, this mature vintage offers a rewarding balance of ripe flavour and polished texture.

Plum and blackberry lead the palate, followed by hints of pepper and warming spice. Soft tannins provide balance, while a smooth, easy finish keeps the wine full of flavour without becoming overcomplicated.

A versatile Australian red wine, it is an excellent match for grilled steak, sausages, burgers, slow-cooked red meats and relaxed barbecue dining. Serve slightly below room temperature to bring out its fruit, spice and supple character.

About this Wine

Shiraz

Bold and full-bodied, Shiraz delivers rich dark fruit flavours of blackberry, plum, and black cherry, layered with black pepper, clove, and subtle smoke. Firm tannins and a velvety texture give it real structure, often rounded out by notes of chocolate and vanilla from oak ageing. A versatile pairing partner for grilled meats and hearty dishes, it's one of Australia's most planted red varieties

Clare Valley

Situated in the Mid North of South Australia, approximately 120 km north of Adelaide is one of Australia's oldest wine regions the Clare Valley. The area is broken up into three sub-regions, the Polish Hill River region to the east, the Central Clare Valley, and the Skillogalee Valley to the west.

Often associated with some of Australia's finest Riesling the cool climate and differing terroirs have paved the way for exciting and diverse wines over a plethora of varietals resulting in wines of pure expression and great length. Home to some of Australia's most iconic wineries - cult producers like Wendouree, to Australian icons such as Kilikanoon and boutique producers like Atlas, the Clare Valley is definitely an area to keep an eye on for exciting and ever evolving wines
