Mount Gay XO is a premium aged rum produced at the St. Lucy distillery in Barbados, blended from rums aged between 8 and 17 years in American bourbon and cognac oak casks. The blend combines distillates from both copper pot stills and column stills — the pot still rums providing richness, banana, and heavy fruit character, while the column still rums contribute lightness and floral, vanilla notes. The cognac cask finishing imparts additional complexity and a rounded, smooth texture. Produced from molasses fermented with Mount Gay's proprietary yeast and drawn from a natural artesian well filtered through Barbados's coral limestone. The XO is the flagship premium expression of the world's oldest rum distillery. Bottled at 43% ABV.

Mount Gay Rum is produced in the parish of St. Lucy at the northern tip of Barbados, on the site of what is recognised as the world's oldest continually operating commercial rum distillery — with documentary records dating to 1703. The distillery sits atop Mount Gilboa, drawing water from an on-site artesian well naturally filtered through Barbados's coral limestone. Originally established under the ownership of John Sober, the estate was later renamed in honour of Sir John Gay Alleyne, whose innovations transformed the operation. Mount Gay is the only Barbados plantation distillery to survive continuously to the present day, and remains a benchmark for Bajan rum production.
