Nikka From The Barrel is one of Japan's most acclaimed whisky expressions — a blended whisky assembled from over 100 different malt and grain whiskies drawn from Nikka's Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries. After initial blending, the whisky is returned to casks for an additional six months of 'marriage' maturation in a combination of bourbon barrels and sherry butts — a process that allows the component whiskies to integrate and harmonise before bottling. The expression is then bottled at near-cask-strength — 51.4% ABV — without dilution or chill-filtration, delivering the concentrated intensity of the blended spirit. Bottled in the iconic small square bottle. 500mL format.

Nikka Whisky was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru — a Japanese chemist who trained as a distiller in Scotland before returning to Japan to establish the country's whisky industry. Nikka operates two distilleries: Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido, established 1934, which uses coal-fired direct-flame pot stills to produce a heavy, smoky, maritime spirit; and Miyagikyo Distillery near Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture, established 1969, which uses steam-heated pot stills for a lighter, floral, and fruity style. The contrast between the two houses provides the complementary malt styles used across Nikka's portfolio of blended and single malt expressions.
