Raasay is a modern distillery, hailing from a small Isle East of Skye in Scotland. One of the core principles of this new-era producer is an experimental focus on aging their prized Single Malt Whisky in a variety of different species of Oak. These differing barrels produce vastly varied flavours, the spectrum of which can be explored in this tasting pack!

The Four Oak Species:

Colombian Oak

Uncommon in Whisky maturation, Colombian Oak imparts herbaceous flavours, and a slight sweetness reminiscent of creme brulee.

Hungarian Oak

Hungarian Oak is a dense species, and imparts a spicy, tannic flavour that is rich and intense

French Oak

More porous than Hungarian Oak, French Oak is not uncommon for aging Whisky, and imparts a delicate, fruit & spice flavour that is balanced and smooth.

Chinkapin Oak

A subspecies of American Oak, this imparts vanilla, smoked bacon and maple syrup, whilst imparting a striking colour as well.
