Description
The classic Bordeaux blend has always been a star in Coonawarra. For this one, the team have sourced fruit from discrete blocks in a Reschke vineyard planted 35 years ago on terra rossa soils. The blend is 65% Cabernet and 35% Merlot, with the latter grape harvested first. Cabernet takes an additional three weeks. Harvesting is at night, with sorting and destemming occurring in the vineyard. A gentle crushing and then fermentation over 8 days before pressing. 40% of the wine goes to a mix of second fill French oak hogsheads for 12 months. This classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot is medium to full bodied, displaying elegant aromas of blackcurrant and dark fruit characters. The palate is lengthy and generous, showcasing an array of blueberry and plum with a hint of cedar oak to finish.
