Pale straw with green highlights. Restrained yet complex aromatics of white peach, grapefruit and melon, supported by flinty reduction, hazelnut and cashew. The palate is medium-plus in weight, tightly structured and precise, showing cool-climate acidity and a pronounced mineral spine. Citrus and stone fruit are well integrated with slight lees-derived texture. Oak is fine-grained providing depth without dominating fruit expression. Excellent balance between richness and restraint, with length, clarity and drive through the finish. A composed, Burgundy-influenced Chardonnay of structure, complexity and ageing potential. It's superbly complex and engaging on the nose, showing white-fleshed stone fruit, lemon peel, oatmeal, biscotti, and nougat characters. The palate delivers excellent concentration and richness, combined with creamy texture and beautifully pitched acidity, leading to a sustained, focused finish.

This is a quite beautiful chardonnay from Tassie which has been sourced from two of the best vineyard regions in the state, the Coal River Valley and Derwent Valley, each bringing individual characters that influence both the aromas and the palate. There's an engaging aroma of light brioche and cashew with a slightly roasted understatement. The palate is deceptive in that it builds slowly, gathering momentum through to a sustained long finish. There's a lovely mouth feel and texture with a crisp acidity, touch of citrus, fine lemon rind, and that distinctive nutty character. The oak fruit balance is absolutely spot on. It's a terrific wine, ideal in medium-term cellaring. Cellar: 7 years.

This wine has a long future ahead of it. It’s a wine of clean lines and impressive persistence, with pristine flavour delivered throughout. It tastes of pears, citrus, hazelnuts and orange peel, with flint and brine notes pushing through the finish. There’s texture here but it’s not overdone; everything is delivered just so. Patience will be rewarded; this has a brilliant future ahead of it.
