Critic Scores

Bright ruby with a translucent crimson edge. The aroma is lifted and perfumed, revealing red cherry, wild strawberry and subtle rose petal, layered with gentle spice and a hint of pine forest complexity. The palate is medium-bodied and finely structured, showcasing vibrant red berry fruit supported by silky tannins and refreshing natural acidity. The finish is long, elegant and beautifully poised. The balance of freshness and structure gives it both immediate appeal and short-to-medium term cellaring potential.

Comes together with signature Adelaide Hills fleshy fruit presence and style. Bright cherry red hues. Cherry is definitely the theme here with scents of dusty red cherry, cranberry, pepper, crushed herbs, fennel seed and hints of rose florals. There’s a real brightness and energy to the youngster with oak in balance. Cherry fruits, raspberry and cranberry shine on the palate while red liquorice, dried herbs and peppery spice mingle in the background. Delivers plenty of upfront juiciness with an easy textural flow on a bed of brisk tannins.

From a warm, dry and early vintage, this new release sits more in a savoury pocket than straight out fruit bomb territory, exhibiting kitchen garden aromas, thyme especially, through to native foliage, saltbush, and more exotic Boronia, delicate and seductive, tempered a touch with subtly charry oak. All this settles comfortably into the palate that has a thread of black cherry flavour, echoing aromas, and a neatly fitting, soft velcro tannin grip to finish. Still quite tight in its youth and will unfold with further personality over the next year or two when its crazy value will increasingly reward.

Vinification & Cultivation

Crafted only for our premium wines

Vineyard Cultivation

An undisclosed Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir sourced from two sites in the South Australian ranges: Charleston in the cooler, higher-elevation south and Gumeracha in the warmer northern hills. The Adelaide Hills' altitude, cool nights and mix of sandy loams and clays over ironstone give Pinot Noir bright red-fruit lift, fine tannin and fresh natural acidity. Blending the two sites balances Charleston's freshness and structure with Gumeracha's fleshier fruit. The 2025 vintage is presented as warm, dry and early, producing a more savoury, kitchen-garden style than an overt fruit bomb, with black-cherry flavour and soft tannin. It is positioned as a vibrant, earlier-drinking, high-value wine. Specific farming and ownership detail are withheld under the Secret Deal format.

Vinification

The vibrant, earlier-drinking style with fine-grained tannin points to a fruit-forward but structured approach: hand-picked fruit, largely destemmed with gentle extraction to keep tannins supple, wild or cultured ferments and full malolactic conversion. Maturation is in French oak kept in balance, with a subtly charry note mentioned, so red-cherry, raspberry and cranberry fruit and peppery spice lead over oak. The soft, velcro-like tannin grip and brisk acidity suggest measured extraction and restrained new oak aimed at freshness and early accessibility. Exact whole-bunch percentage, oak proportions and time in barrel are not disclosed for this release.

South Australia

South Australia

If you like Australian wine, then you probably like South Australia wine. The rich reds produced there put Australia on the wine-making map of the world. With over 40% of the countries vineyards, South Australia can rightfully call itself the wine state.

Wines are produced in several regions throughout the state, though many are naturally grouped together, like Barossa and Eden Valleys, only 15 minutes apart. They include such regions as Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Eden Valley, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Kangaroo Island, Langhorne Creek, The Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale and Wrattonbully to name but a few!

Barossa Valley boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia dating back to 1843 and produces some of the world's finest Shiraz, whilst the 'terra rossa' soils of Coonawarra is most suited to producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons. If you're a fan of Riesling, Clare Valley is a great place to explore and for a Maritime climate not dissimilar to parts of the Italian coastline, seek out the wines from McLaren Vale.
