      ABOUT
Seppeltsfield has long been internationally renowned for its treasure trove of fortifieds highlighted by the Centennial Collection – the world’s only unbroken lineage of single vintage Tawny dating back to 1878, spanning 148 consecutive vintages. The Centennial Cellar was built in 1878 by Oscar ‘Benno’ Seppelt. In a gesture both unique and inspirational, Benno selected a puncheon of his finest wine and gave instructions that it was not to be bottled for 100 years. The Centennial Cellar is a living museum of Australian winemaking history and undoubtedly is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the Seppeltsfield Estate. The 1925 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny is the 48th consecutive release from the Centennial Cellar. Our 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny was the inaugural wine to be inducted into James Halliday’s Hall Of Fame.

      WINEMAKING
The very finest parcels of Grenache and Shiraz are selected each year from the Seppeltsfield Estate vineyards and reserved for the making of the 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny. The single vintage Tawny is fortified with Brandy spirit and aged in old oak barrels in the renowned Centennial Cellar, then this is progressively transferred into smaller barrels as it continues to evaporate and build in concentration. An estimated 3% is lost each year to the ‘angel’s share’, with the wine continually concentrating in-flavour, aroma and viscosity during its maturation in barrel.

      TASTING NOTES
Colour: Deep mahogany with a vibrant amber edge.
Aroma: Incredible intensity, dark chocolate and brown spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom.
Palate: Immediately luscious! Incredible volume and mouthfeel, lingering flavours of bittersweet dark chocolate and hazelnuts. Freshness and length driven by blood orange acidity.
Cheese Pairing: 60 month aged parmigiano.
      Dessert Pairing: Ferrero Rocher.
Serving Suggestion: Best enjoyed served in a RIEDEL Cognac Hennessy glass. We recommend a 10ml pour.

Each bottle is individually numbered and comes with a certificate that can be personalised.

    Seppeltsfield

In 1849, Joseph Ernst Seppelt, a merchant from Poland, migrated to Australia with his family. In 1851, he and his family settled in the Barossa Valley and bought the property which they named Seppeltsfield. When Joseph died, his eldest son, Benno, took over and continued to expand Seppeltsfield, and by the 20th Century it was Australia's largest winery, annually producing 2 million litres of wine. Later generations expanded both wineries and vineyards. Seppeltsfield is now one of Australia’s oldest wineries.

Their 100 hectare vineyards produce some of the world’s finest Shiraz, and also include plantings of Grenache, and small plantings of Touriga and Palomino. The soils are heavy and red brown, and the location is warm and dry with an average of only 500 mm annual rainfall.

Seppeltsfield is famous for its signature wine, the Para Tawny, the only wine in the world to release a 100 year old, single vintage every year.
