St. Kilian German Peated is the smoky expression from St. Kilian Distillers in Rüdenau, Bavaria — using heavily peated malted barley to produce a distinctly smoky German single malt within the distillery's Scottish-method production framework. The peated barley is double-distilled in the distillery's 6,000-litre Forsyth copper pot stills alongside the same Bavarian water and production methods that define the Classic unpeated expression, before maturation in oak casks. The peated character of a Bavarian-produced whisky using continental European terroir — rather than Scottish or Islay peat — gives the finished spirit a distinct character from Scottish peated expressions. Bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration in a 700mL format.

St. Kilian Distillers is the largest single malt whisky distillery in Germany, located in Rüdenau in the Lower Franconia region of Bavaria. The distillery was co-founded in 2015 by technology investment banker Andreas Thümmler, Irish whisky consultant David F. Hynes, and Bavarian brewmaster and master distiller Mario Rudolf. Production began in 2016 using two 6,000-litre Forsyth copper pot stills — the same Scottish still-maker used by many of Scotland's finest distilleries — and the first three-year-old single malt, 'First Kilian', was released in 2019. The distillery produces around 250,000 litres of alcohol annually using locally sourced Bavarian barley and Scottish methods.
