The Whisky Cellar 1989 Girvan 34 Year Old is a single grain Scotch whisky from Girvan Distillery (William Grant and Sons) in Ayrshire, matured for 34 years in a single refill ex-bourbon barrel — cask number 167850 — before being bottled in 2024. The 209 bottles produced were selected by The Whisky Cellar as part of their Private Cellars Selection Series 4, bottled at natural cask strength of 48.2% ABV without chill-filtration. After three and a half decades, the grain whisky has developed a profile of Bosc pear, grilled pineapple, demerara sugar, pink grapefruit, and oak spice — the soft, silky texture that only long-aged grain whisky can achieve.

The Whisky Cellar is an Edinburgh-based independent Scotch whisky bottler founded by Keith Bonnington — a Keeper of the Quaich — who selects single casks from private stock at the peak of their character. Girvan Distillery in Ayrshire, in Scotland's Lowlands, was established in 1963 by William Grant and Sons specifically to produce grain whisky for blending into Grants blended Scotch. Girvan's column still-produced grain whisky is prized by independent bottlers for its extraordinary capacity for development over long periods of maturation, producing complex, creamy aged expressions that bear little resemblance to young grain whisky.
