Tasting Notes
The Whisky Cellar is an Edinburgh-based independent Scotch Whisky bottler, selecting casks from its private stock at the peak of their character. Founded by Keeper of the Quaich, Keith Bonnington, Keith searches far and wide for casks showing exceptional complexity of flavour and length on the palate.
In a day where Single Malt whisky over the age of 20 Years Old begin to fetch prices well over $500, Single Grain is the saviour. This often overlooked style of Scottish Whisky is lighter, and often dismissed in favour of the heartier Single Malt style. However, as the years pile on, Single Grains become elegant and flavourful, rich in a way that is difficult to replicate, let alone afford with a Single Malt.
This single cask Girvan is light, fruity, with notes of stewed pear and vanilla bean. The finish holds weight and gentle oak spice. A rare delicacy.
