    • Description

One of Australia's most talented and awarded winemakers, Tim Smith is focused on making benchmark examples of the Barossa's time proven varietals; Shiraz, Mataro and Grenache.

Anything up to 12 vineyards go into this wine: it’s typically a blend of ~50:50 Barossa and Eden Valleys. The Barossa Valley provides the engine room for the palate, the Eden Valley components provide the lifted aromatics. Mostly French oak, and mostly 500 litre ‘puncheons’ to slow down the oak uptake and preserve aromatics.

    Tim Smith Wines

Tim Smith partners with some of the best growers throughout the Barossa and pays top dollar to get his hands on some of the best parcels of old-vine fruit around. He has a deft touch and works wonders with Barossa's key varietals namely Mataro, Grenache and Shiraz but crafts his wines with a distinct Rhone influence. He spent vintages with some of the great Northern Hemisphere producers like Chapoutier and Gabriel Meffre. His wines have been favourably compared to fine Côte Rôtie and Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines made using a New World approach.

He is one of Australia's most awarded boutique producers and his wines have won hundreds of awards and medals over the years, most notably perhaps was the Best in Class Trophy the 2009 vintage MGS won at the prestigious London International Wine Show.
