Torbreck RunRig Shiraz 2010 is an iconic Australian Rhône-inspired red wine, crafted from ancient, dry-grown Shiraz vines in South Australia’s renowned Barossa Valley. Named after the traditional Scottish land system, RunRig reflects David Powell’s vision of creating powerful, age-worthy wines that celebrate the region’s exceptional old-vine heritage.

Deep, concentrated and remarkably refined, the 2010 vintage reveals layers of ripe blackberry, dark plum, black cherry and dark chocolate, complemented by cracked pepper, savoury spice and subtle earthy complexity. Velvety tannins provide structure and balance, while impressive depth and exceptional length define this distinguished Barossa Shiraz.

The 2010 RunRig is superb and gracious. Powerful but finely wrought tannins support supremely elegant fruit. There are notes of sumac and cocoa, mulberry, pressed flowers and clove. This is fresh, harmonious and seamless, in line with the characters of 2004, 2002, 1998 and 1996. It's a massive wine, but it's balanced; and the alcohol is surprisingly not a thing—despite being very much of a thing analytically. 16% alcohol, sealed under natural cork.

A perplexing wine to evaluate, the 2010 RunRigShiraz andViognier) evolves rapidly once poured, going from slightly stewed and overoaked to a wine that shows considerable class within 20 minutes or so. Aromas and flavors of brown sugar, mocha and roasted meat give way to raspberry compote, while the creamy texture and supple tannins conceal the wine's high alcohol level with ease.
